Episode 52: Happy Thanksgiving!

Hello darlings! Happy Thanksgiving to those in the US – and if you’re going to be shopping the Black Friday sales, bless you. LOL! I’ve been busy since the last recording which hasn’t left a whole lot of time to knit, so this episode isn’t as long as the last couple. *sigh* (I’m sure that a few of you are out there saying “thank goodness!”. I totally understand, lol.)

Current Roster

  • Hermione’s Everyday Socks by Erica Lueder. Knit out of the Twelfth Doctor colorway from See Jayne Knit on US1.5s. Still working on the leg of this one. I’m hoping that with nothing else officially on the needles, that I’ll get this one finished soon!

Alumni Roster

  • Sporthead Hat – based off the very popular Sockhead Hat by Kelly McClure. This went fairly quickly once I got to the Stockinette, yay! I’ll need to write up my notes and post them on Rav. (I also need to make a project page…)

Scouting Report

Have a great holiday, y’all! I’ll see you next time!

Keep knitting, spinning, crocheting, and stitching on!

Holly

Episode 51: Announcements, Recaps, and Stash – Oh My!

Hi everyone! It’s been a hectic couple of weeks since the retreat, but I finally got some time to record! Warning for everyone: this is a long episode and I could only compress it so much. If you aren’t watching this on the blog or YouTube, it may take a while to download it. I’m sorry, I tried! (I’m glad I didn’t add the pictures in at the end… I’ll have to do that for another episode.)

What’s Happening Chez Sheepish?

A few things have happened since we last talked:

  • We very quietly turned 2 at the end of October! Thank you all for all your love and support. Let’s see what this year brings!
  • Because I’m a slacker and can’t get any packages out in any reasonable time, I’m not going to be doing the monthly giveaways anymore. I’ll get out what I have left and that will be it. It doesn’t mean there will never be prizes or that you won’t be able to share your stuff, I promise. I’ll make sure to start an FO thread so we can all still post. Join in there!

Current Roster

  • Hermione’s Everyday Socks by Erica Lueder. Knit out of the Twelfth Doctor colorway from See Jayne Knit on US1.5s. Still working my way down the leg of the second sock – I’ve moved it to a 32″ circular so I can magic loop it. Hopefully that will speed things up a bit!
  • Sporthead Hat – based off the very popular Sockhead Hat by Kelly McClure. I’ve done some math, new numbers, and gauge tests to make my sport-weight Miss Babs Yummy work for this. I love how it’s coming out, but I think it’s getting a bit long now, especially since I’ll never wear it with the brim turned up. Though this may become a present… I think that I’ll still hold off, though. The Yummy has 335 yds compared to sock yarn skeins of 400+ yds. I definitely don’t want to run out! Plus doing this has sparked a design in my head…
  • Hobbledehoy battlings in the “Flight of the TARDIS” colorway. I got 6 oz of therm and have mostly two plied them together. I love how it looks. I still need to skein it up and give it a bath before I’ll call it finished. :)

Alumni Roster

  • July Socky Socks! I finished these on the trip back from Maine. Really, they were finished in the first few hours of that trip. Yay!

Scouting Report

There really is too much to list at this hour… I’ll have to go back and update this when I’m better rested. :) Let’s just say there was a lot of it!

What’s Making Me Happy

I almost didn’t do this segment since I was running so long. I did and that added a whole bunch of time onto the recording! ;) Suffice it to say: Highlands on the Fly ’14, YAY that it happened and boo that it’s over; Caps, yay for the game against Chicago (and tonight against the Canes as well); Yay for the prospect of more yarny related trips/friends/acquisitions; Yay for new knitting related Swatch watch!

I’ll see you next time. Have a great week!

Keep knitting, spinning, crocheting, and stitching on!

xo,
Holly

Episode 50: Hiro!!!

I’m not even going to lie to you about show notes this week. :) I wanted to get a quick episode up before Michelle and I leave for Highlands on the Fly in Millinocket, Maine tomorrow – I’m finally packed and almost ready to go. We need to pick up the rental car and load it up tonight before getting on the road early!

I might do a few travel episodes – if so, they will be short .

I’ll see you on the flip side, loves!

xo,
Holly

Episode 49: Let’s Try This Again

Shhh… I recorded and edited at work again, so show notes will follow when I get home. :)

Episode 48: Fall = Knitting

No show notes until later – I recorded this at work… shhhhh! ;)

Okay, I didn’t realize just how bad the editing software and camera/computer FUBAR-ed the audio/video sync (it would not let me check, grrrr), so I suggest that you just not even watch and play it in the background. My voice isn’t bad, right? LOL.  I am soooooo sorry about this, guys. I tried to record again tonight using my DSLR, but that won’t let me record anything longer than 5 minutes at a time. (WTF? That just seems wrong – and I can’t figure out how to record longer.) I tried to fix the audio, but 3 hours later and I’m still fiddling with the audio timeline. You have no clue how sorry I am about this. I wanted to pull this down immediately, but since I’d already put it up, I decided to leave it up. I may change my mind tomorrow. We’ll see.

*sigh*

Episode 46: The Doctor is Back!

Hi everyone! I hope y’all have had a great week, mine has been good – I’ve gotten a lot done, so that’s a plus, right?

What’s Happening Chez Sheepish?

  • The sale on my Allons-y! socks (20% off the pattern!) is still going on – I’ve extended the sale on them; you’ll be able to get them for 20% off until September 30. Want to buy them? Then click here.
  • knittingblackbelt on Ravelry is having a KAL on her blog, Little Fire Knits, to celebrate the new season of Doctor Who! Go over to her blog to check out all the rules and tag any projects you submit with the hashtag #drwhokal on Instagram.

Current Roster

  • Snapshots from Maine blanket… I’ve been working on this in my March yarn and cast on for another Vivid square, which is working up really quickly!
  • Shorty 2.0 Baby Blanket. Working on my 10 squares in Knitpicks Swish DK – I’ve got 3 of 10 complete so far.
  • The socks haven’t been touched and likely won’t be until I’m done with the squares for the baby blanket.

Scouting Report

  • 2 skeins of yarn from Voolenvine – I managed to catch an update! :) Kristen is also the host of the Yarngasm podcast!
  • 2 skeins of yarn from Gale’s Art – I snagged a skein of the coveted Graffiti and Asphalt colorway… so pretty!
  • 6.2 oz (approximately) of fiber from Hobbledehoy in the Flight of the TARDIS colorway. You know I had to have it… them… yeah.
  • 2 flat pack bobbins from Akerworks for the Bug. I can’t wait to use these!

What’s Making Me Happy

Do I really need to say it? Doctor Who is back! While I had some issues with the episode itself, I adore Peter Capaldi as the Doctor. He’ll be a different Doctor than the others, but I think that’s needed. There are a couple story lines that I’m worried we’ll get bogged down with this season, but I’m still thrilled that it’s back. :)

Have a great week, everyone! Keep knitting, crocheting, spinning and stitching on!

Holly

Episode 45: Another FO, Yay!

Hiya everyone! How has your week been? Mine has been busy and I’ve gotten a lot of knitting done (for me, at least), so mine has been good. :) This one is a short one this week – it seems when I record once a week the episodes are shorter, who would’ve thought that? Heh.

What’s Happening Chez Sheepish?

  • The sale on my Allons-y! socks (20% off the pattern!) is still going on until Saturday at 11:59pm Eastern.

  • Simple Vanilla Sock. I’ve knit about 3-4″ on the leg of this sock – progress has been slow, but steady.
  • Hermione’s Everyday Socks by Erica Lueder. I’m halfway through the ribbing on the sock – I meant to rip it out and start again on Saturday, but… yeah. :)
  • Snapshots from Maine blanket… I wound my March yarn and cast on for another Vivid square, which is working up really quickly!

Scouting Report – Projects

I will be partnering with my bestie to knit a friend of ours a Vivid for their baby (out of DK weight).

What’s Making Me Happy

  • NEW DOCTOR WHO SEASON STARTS ON SATURDAY!! Yes, I am insanely excited about this. :)

Have a great week everyone, I’ll see you next time!

Episode 44: Monagamish?

Hi everyone! It’s been a little while since we last chatted. A lot has happened since then, I’ve had a birthday, been to a wedding, got to spend two back to back weekends with my bestie, went out to Signature Theatre to see one of my favorite shows (I have many of those)… and lots of work, of course.

I draw for the June/July Socks, Socks, Socks! thread AND there’s a coupon code to use toward my Allons-y pattern in celebration of the new season of Doctor Who starting on August 23! Just enter “Capaldi” (without the quotes, natch) into the coupon code area and you’ll get 20% off of that pattern until 11:59 PM on August 23.

Current Roster

  • Collywobbles Socks by Emily Estrada. The socks are coming slowly, but surely. The second sock is well past the heel and over halfway down the foot! I can’t just take these anywhere with me, though (I keep screwing up the pattern if I do), so that slows down progress. I am so looking forward to when they are done!
  • Simple Vanilla Sock. This has been pretty strictly purse/car knitting (only when I’m at a full stop, I promise!), so not much progress has been made, but I’m sure that once the Collywobbles are done, I’ll give these some more attention. Maybe they’ll start living in my office for webinars?
  • Hermione’s Everyday Socks by Erica Lueder. I just cast these on, in my See Jayne Knit sock yarn in the 12th Doctor colorway. Hopefully, I’ll get some work on these while I’m at the computer…
  • Snapshots from Maine blanket… 2nd Incarnation. I’ve gotten some good feedback on the variegation with the lace – so I knit a second block. :)

Alumni Roster

  • Springtime Bandit by Kate Gagnon-Osborn. It’s done, done, done and I love it! Much longer than expected and it’s perfect. Nine repeats of the body and one of the border on US6 needles. LOVE IT.

Scouting Report

Have a great week, everyone! I’m hoping to record next week, so I’ll see you then! Keep knitting, stitching, crocheting, and spinning on!
