Episode 40: Not a Lot of Knitting

Hi there! I told you I’d record this week, so here I am! :) It’s a short one this week… Not a lot of knitting has been happening in these parts – I’ve been busy as usual, but it seems that my mojo is taking a week’s break. Everything is in exactly the same spot – well, except the June socks. Those were started and ripped in the last two days. *sigh*

What’s New Chez Sheepish?

It’s time for a drawing, hooray!! There were so many great entries over the last two months – so inspiring, all of them! Congratulations to our winner…. ha! I am so not spoiling it for everyone – you must watch to see. :)

It’s also the start of the Summer Craftalong!! I’ve put the FO thread up in the Rav group, so start posting away! Doesn’t matter how large or small or even what craft it is. I want to see what you complete!

Scouting Report

I was really good this week – only one purchase from the lovely Sadie at Knitters Nightmare.

What’s Making Me Happy

Have a great week, everyone! I’m planning on recording next week – so I’ll see you then! :) Keep knitting, crocheting, spinning, and stitching on!

xo,
Holly

Episode 38: New Technology

Hi everyone! I took the time yesterday morning to record… and didn’t actually edit until last night. Well, at least there’s some good light, right? ;) So, I got a new microphone this week – let me know what you think of the sound quality! Hopefully, it’s much better than it was. We’ll see.

What’s Happening Chez Sheepish?

What do you knit on during the hot summer months? Well, let’s find out! Starting June 1, we’re going to have a CAL (craftalong)! Starting on June 1, you can start posting your finished summer projects (or winter projects, if you’re in the Southern Hemisphere) for a chance to win a sweater’s worth of madelinetosh tosh mo light. I know, right??

If you don’t regularly check on the blog (if you’re reading this, you’re either here or viewing on YouTube…), you should! I uploaded a tutorial the other day and I’m looking for more suggestions on them – so what do you want to see?

Current Roster

Rubber Ducky Socks. Vanilla sock pattern by me. Knit for a Socks 201 private lesson out of Biscotte et Cie Felix in the Princesse et les 7 mailles colorway. I’m done with the first one – mostly, so I just need to get started on the second sock in the pair! I love when socks work up quickly. :)

Alumni Roster

April Socky-Socks. Vanilla sock pattern by me. Knit out of Knitters Nightmare Boogeyman Sock on US1.5 (2.5mm) needles. These are short socks, so I could catch up with my personal quest for my year of socks – but they were a wonderful knit! Knit with a Fish Lips Kiss heel, they’re a touch wide, but still wearable.

Scouting Report

  • Mystik Spiral socks by Josh Ryks. I love these – I need to cast them on immediately. LOL!
  • Lollipop Yarns – I managed to catch a ball at Looped in DC
  • Shibui cotton silk blend yarn. This is going to be a bear to wind and knit with…
  • My Snapshots of Maine yarn club in Sweet Sap. How much better can this get? :)

What’s Making Me Happy

  • I got to spend time with Elly, Dave, Kristin, Laura, CC, and Damaris and chat on Saturday afternoon. It was my first time doing a Google Hangout and I had so much fun! Much love to everyone and I loved meeting you all! xoxo (Also, happy birthday Elly!!!!!)
  • Solving all sorts of tech issues here at the house has definitely made me happy and soooo frustrated at the same time. Heh.

Much love to everyone – thanks for stopping by! I’ll see you all next time!

Knit, crochet, spin, and stitch on!

xo,
Holly

Episode 37: Sheep & Wool!

Hi everyone! It’s been a couple of weeks since I last recorded – how are you?? This weekend was Sheep & Wool weekend and man, was it fun!! :) I got to see and meet so many people and buy so many things… that’s what a Sheep & Wool Festival is for, correct?

What’s Happening Chez Sheepish?

Since we don’t have as many entries this month, I’m going to combine the April Socks, Socks, Socks! thread with the May one. I’ll be pulling for one (or even two) prizes in June.

Current Roster

Everything from last time is in the same place as the last time I recorded, so I didn’t even show anything. Hopefully, I’ll get some work done on them in the next week (especially on the April socks)!

Alumni Roster

  • 7-Day Sweater (Liesl) by Ysolda TeagueSomehow, I developed the #crazypantsknitting (new hashtag on Instagram, LOL) idea to knit a sweater to wear to Maryland Sheep & Wool. I knit on nothing else and succeeded! Project monogamy=FTW! (Project monogamy is so boring, though.

Scouting Report (Stash)

  • Gourmet Stash punis in the “Paintbox Remnants,” “Peacock Dreams,” and “Spinners Hill” colorways – gorgeous!
  • Vintage Rose stitch markers and shawl pin. You know how much I adore Vintage Rose!
  • Into the Whirled braids of fiber… Polwarth, Polwarth/Silk, Falkland – I can’t wait to spin these!
  • Jennie the Potter mugs – I had to special order the 2014 MDSW ones, but that’s okay, I can wait. ;)
  • Fiber Optic Yarns paintbox kit. This is about 450 yards, so I have no clue what I’ll do with it, but I’ll find something. A Honey Cowl, maybe?

What’s Making Me Happy

Maryland Sheep & Wool, of course! I spent the day with Michelle and we had fun roaming around the festival, shopping, handing out buttons, and meeting people. I made it to the podcaster meetup and met some really awesome people! I got to catch up with some of my favorite people as well, so all in all, it was a great day! (Even if I got sunburned and now have a light patterned tan of the Liesl lace on my shoulder. Heh.)

I hope you all have a great week – I’ll see you next time.

Knit, stitch, spin, and crochet on!

xo,
Holly

Episode 36: Happy Easter!

Hi everyone! It’s a short one this week to catch up… it’s amazing how short an episode can be when you don’t have anything for the Scouting Report… My excuse is that Maryland Sheep and Wool is coming up soon – I totally want to have money to spend there! ;)

Current Roster

  • April Socky Sock. Not much progress has been made on this because of… reasons. I need to get the lead out if I’m going to finish a pair by the end of the month – why did I set this challenge again? Oh yeah, I’m insane (but lovable)! These are being knit out of Knitter’s Nightmare in her Boogeyman Sock on my US1.5 32″ circs. The colorway? It’s a “screwed up” Thank You for Being a Friend. I have yet to see how it’s screwed up, but whatever. These are gorgeous!
  • Class Socky Sock. This one was cast on because I decided that I should have something on the needles for my Top Down Socks class at fibre space. I just didn’t want to have another Bondi sock on the needles. Lame, I know. As these are being knit out of some Into the Whirled that I purchased at MDSW last year, it’s only fitting that I work on them and they become my May socks. These are knit using the Into the Whirled Gloucester base in the Mercy Hartigan colorway on my US1.5 Signature DPNs.
  • Granny Square Snapshots of Maine blanket. I’ve finished the January skein of yarn and have started the February skein… it’s the perfect mindless project!

Alumni Roster

  • Wibbly Wobbly Timey Wimey (Albers) Cowl by Ann Weaver. Finally done! Just in time for the last bout (hopefully) of cold weather here in the DC area. I love how this turned out, even if it isn’t as big/long as I’d like it. I’ll try reblocking it, but I’m still really happy with how it turned out.

What’s Making Me Happy?

  • It’s Stanley Cup Playoff time! While the Caps didn’t make it in, it doesn’t mean I’m not watching. I’m rooting for the Anaheim Ducks – let’s go Ducks!!
  • Eddie Izzard is coming to DC in 11 days – and I’ll be there! LOVE that man. (Let’s put it this way, I have Eddie downloaded as my GPS voice. Yeah, that’s how much I love him.)
  • Maryland Sheep & Wool Festival!! It’s the first weekend in May – Michelle and I are heading there on Saturday, definitely. If you see me, say hi! :)

Have a great week, y’all! Knit, Spin, Crochet, and Stitch On!

Holly

Episode 35: Fiber Snuggling

Hiya everyone! It’s been a couple weeks since we last talked – it’s been a busy couple of weeks for me! (This is quickly becoming my norm… Oh well.)

What’s Happening Chez Sheepish?

It’s the first recording of the month! We know what that means… It’s time for the Socks, Socks, Socks! drawing!! There were some absolutely GORGEOUS submissions this past month. Thank you all for participating, it means a lot. Really.

So… congrats to our winner, Olvs! Congrats, Kylie!

Current Roster/Stick Handling

  • Wibbly Wobbly Timey Wimey (Albers) Cowl by Ann Weaver. Matt Smith square is almost complete! I should get it done in the next day so it should be an official FO next week… Fingers crossed!
  • Granny Square Snapshots of Maine blanket. I’ve decided to take my yarn from the Snapshots of Maine yarn club and crochet it into a granny square – I love how it’s coming out!
  • April Socky Sock. I pulled out some of my Knitters Nightmare in the “Thank You For Being a Friend” colorway and cast on. I’m still debating on whether I’m going to knit this in stockinette or if I will throw a cable into it…
  • Once Upon a Time stitchalong by the Frosted Pumpkin Stitchery. The April block is here, so I’m getting a late start on it, but I’m loving it so far. :)

Alumni Roster

My Monkey socks are complete! Hooray!! They’re a little snug, but they are gorgeous! They were knit out of Unwind Yarn Company‘s Journey Sock in the Waterlilies colorway.

Scouting Report

What’s Making Me Happy

  • Friends. ‘Nuff said. :) Planning getaways is one of my favorite pastimes!

Have a great week everyone! Knit, stitch and crochet on!
